Danielle Gaudino
Counselor Trainee
A counselor trainee is a graduate student completing supervised clinical training as part of their counseling education. Under the Ohio Counselor, Social Worker, and Marriage and Family Therapist (CSWMFT) Board, counselor trainees provide counseling services under appropriate supervision while developing their clinical skills and professional competence. Their work is overseen by a qualified supervisor to support ethical practice and client safety.
Danielle is training to specialize in working with first responders, military personnel, and veterans. She also welcomes individuals from all backgrounds and works with a variety of clinical concerns. As a Counselor Trainee, Danielle has scholarship funding available for eligible cash pay clients, helping to significantly reduce the cost of services.
Danielle is a Registered Counselor Trainee (CT), registered in Ohio by the Ohio Counseling, Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy Board (License No. C.2608056). She is currently completing her Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at John Carroll University as part of her practicum and internship requirements for state licensure. Her clinical training and supervision are provided under the direction of Derrick Martin, LPCC-S (License No. E2001724-SUPV).
Danielle’s decision to become a counselor is rooted in a lifelong understanding of service, compassion, and the importance of being present when people need support. Raised by a mother who worked in nursing and a father who served in the U.S. Air Force and fire service, she grew up with a strong appreciation for caring for others during difficult times. Her own experiences with isolation and mental health challenges during significant life transitions further shaped her belief that people should not have to face difficult experiences alone. These experiences have become an important part of why Danielle chose a career in counseling.
Her approach is grounded in a person centered and holistic perspective. She recognizes that each person’s experiences are different and that meaningful healing involves both emotional and physical well being. Danielle has a particular interest in working with first responders, veterans, and individuals experiencing trauma, crisis, or complex life circumstances. She is especially drawn to trauma focused work and is receiving training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) as she continues to develop her clinical skills.
Danielle’s goal is not simply to help clients manage difficult circumstances. She wants to help them process what they have experienced, recognize the strengths they already possess, and begin to develop a renewed sense of hope. She believes therapy should provide a place where people can finally let their guard down, feel heard and understood, and begin moving toward meaningful change.
Her clinical experiences include working with neurodivergent individuals in inpatient crisis settings, supporting youth involved in the criminal justice system, and observing forensic psychological evaluations. These experiences have helped Danielle develop a calm, steady, and nonjudgmental presence when working with people facing stressful or sensitive circumstances.
Danielle believes one of the most important things she brings to therapy is the ability to listen closely and notice the details that may otherwise be overlooked. She strives to create a safe environment where clients can speak honestly without fear of judgment and begin exploring their experiences, strengths, and goals at their own pace.
As a counselor trainee (CT), Danielle is limited to which insurance panels she is able to work with.
