Trey Brock
Independently Contracted Provider
Licensed Professional Counselor
Trey specializes in working with first responders and military/veterans
Trey is a dependently Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), licensed in Ohio by the Ohio Counseling, Social Work, Marriage Family Therapy Board (License C2608113). As a dependently licensed clinician, Trey is completing his board required hours under the direction and supervision of Derrick Martin, LPCC-S (License E2001724-SUPV).
Prior to becoming a psychotherapist, Trey’s background is rooted in public safety. He obtained his Emergency Medical Technician training in 2015, continued obtaining his professional firefighter in 2016, and ultimately earning his paramedic certification in 2018. Working in both the rural fire service and private Emergency Medical Services, he provided both 911 emergency response care and critical care medical services. During his years in public safety, he found a second family and a brotherhood that gave him some of the most meaningful memories of his adult life.
On Memorial Day 2019, Trey responded to a call that changed the course of his career and ultimately his life. Like many first responders, he carried the weight of that experience while continuing to care for others both professionally and personally. After years of suppressing the memories associated with the call, he realized it was still affecting him. Trey eventually overcame the stigma that prevents many first responders from seeking help and reached out for support. Through his own healing journey, he gained perspective, found hope, and received the support he needed to move forward. That experience not only helped save his life, but also inspired him to pursue a career in counseling. It fueled his passion for helping others facing similar challenges and for working with people who want a therapist who truly understands their lived experiences.
Trey returned to academia and earned his Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a concentration in Substance Use Disorders from John Carroll University. His primary focus is helping men and first responders navigate occupational stress, develop healthy coping strategies, and heal from the trauma they experience while serving others. While he is especially passionate about working with men and first responders, Trey welcomes clients ages 16 and older from all backgrounds. He understands that asking for help can be difficult, particularly for men and those in emergency services. For that reason, he is committed to creating a safe, authentic, and collaborative environment where clients can grow, heal, and move toward meaningful change.
Trey takes a client centered approach and meets people where they are without judgment or pressure. He recognizes that every person brings unique experiences, strengths, challenges, and goals to therapy. His aim is to help clients gain insight, build resilience, develop practical tools, and create lasting change throughout their healing journey.
Trey continues to work fulltime in public safety as a 911 dispatcher and maintains his current credentials in fire and EMS. Outside of work, Trey enjoys spending time with his family and friends, traveling, and attending concerts with his wife.
